Recorded live at the Sean Tobin Fund Benefit at The Nomad World Pub on April 20th, 2018.

A couple thoughts/disclaimers. . .

Due to mechanical issues with my recording equipment and various associated editorial choices, while this recorded piece is an accurate accounting of the performance that occurred it most certainly is not an accurate depiction or documentation of how the performance sounded. Instead, it is perhaps more of a suggestion of how it might have sounded, a distorted facsimile of sorts.

Emotionally it took me a very long time to return to this performance. When revisiting it I discovered that there were some very serious issues with the recording that I was able to capture and I was very doubtful that I'd be able to share the piece. Ultimately I was able to let go of what I thought this recording should be, allowing myself to salvage what remained within the captured recording and mold it into this final piece, a journey born out of deep imperfection and failure.

I'm left with the feeling that the resultant unintentional aspects in the recording perhaps make this a stronger and more appropriate piece than anything that was done intentionally during the performance: the grating and dynamic imperfects, the strong presence of friends gathered and speaking to one another in remembrance and in honor of Sean, and from every crack the warm, soft and pillowy noise leaking through.

We miss you Sean.
